"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

I don't agree. I wouldn't say it's the best show ever, but definitely in the top ten. Hell, it and Code Geass are the only two anime I've actually really liked in the past few years. (although that may be more indicative of how crappy anime is getting) Especially compared to other recent mecha series. (e.g., all the recent Gundam series.)

As for Yoko... on my first watch-through, I stopped noticing the fanservice after a while. The first few episodes are a little heavy on the fanservice, but it tones down a little later in the series. (except for a certain ridiculous outfit at the end of the series.)

Since Sci-fi cruelly teased us by playing the first six seconRAB of the 2nd ED full before shrinking and fast-forwarding . . .

Here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9FIikmS_g0

Stupid trivia: Afromania, the group that made this song, also did the 1st ED for Kiba which is airing on Toonami Jetstream, if you want more Afromania.

Unrelated side-material supplied by Gainax concerning this episode...
Every other box in the area contained the body of one of Nia's siblings. It took Simon's crew a long time to rebury them all properly.

Sci-Fi airing GaoGaiGar would be both awesome and a bit odd feeling. It is without a doubt a kiRAB show even more so than GL could be considered one. So it wouldn't fit in on Sci-Fi all that well IMO but I'd love to see it happen having only half the episodes dubbed might be a problem though.

IMO Manga and Sci-Fi should look into getting some of ADV's techy series. A nice follow-up to GL would be Gadonnar and/or Dai-Guard.

Man.

If anyone had any doubts about Kamina's VA, that should shatter them.

(Was it just me, or did it sound like he said "Break", instead of "Breaker"?)

BWAH! XD Oh, how I laughed.

The show revels in randomness anyway. Or at least it did at the beginning.

It's funny; the show's initial randomness and designs from when it began made me unable to take the much more serious second part, well, seriously. And until I saw the second half (or at least everything after Kamina's death), I never really got why people compared such a silly show (my thoughts at the time, mind you) to something like NGE. I still can't really view the show in a serious light, but it's still a fun ride.

Sorry for taking your quote off on my own tangent, Don. Just needed to get that off my chest.

Because the talkbacks would be too big for both shows. I figure that having separate talkbacks will allow people to discuss the shows individually, without one show overshadowing the other.

Wow, I totally forgot it's Monday. New Gurren-Lagann!

Episodes 19 and 20: Will Rossiu stop being an ass? Probably not, but tune in to find out!

They're re-airing the Read or Die movie next week, then the Street Fighter Alpha movie the week after. So Ani-Monday will still be on, just not Gurren Lagann or Now and Then, Here and There.

You spoke too soon.

Tonight we've seen the recovery of Team DaiGurren's leader, and one of my favorite anime moments. To those of you who were losing hope last week, I'm glad you stuck with it.

And something for "teh funnay": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5wdLD0PeP4

EDIT: Short-hair Nia FTW.
