"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Pretty good dub, although Kamina's VA really took some getting used to. The others are alright, no problems.

Some parts of the episode were cut out though...bad move, but oh well...

Good luck to everyone enjoying the show for the first time.

I'm in the middle of a re-watch (literally), so I'd rather not spoil anything (which is ironic though, considering I spoiled myself silly the first time around)

Just the obvious: You haven't seen anything yet.

Things get way more awesome...and, yes, also way more ridiculous, but by that time you probably won't care (and shouldn't). There are some small negatives as well...but you'll deal with them all the same.

Episodes 15 and 16 air tonight on Ani-Monday. Apparently, episode 15 is a very awesome episode, so that's gives more incentive to watch.

Here's tonight's schedule:

11:00 PM: Episode 15 - "I'll Head TowarRAB Tomorrow"
11:30 PM: Episode 16 - "Entire Polysynthesis "

All times are Eastern.

I don't know, if the whole running around wearing a bikini top and short shorts weren't enough to irk the feminists. Having the lead female regulating to a stereotypical female role would send them over the edge.

Then again, maybe I'm just annoyed that Yoko suddenly became teacher without any foreshadow. Rossiu's change to a cold calculating jerk makes sense since he essentially became the same filth as chief of his village. Whom he dispised after finding out the truth.

If you mean a literal spin-off, there's a manga that does the story if it was in a modern setting and they go to school and stuff. It's mainly in parody though. (For example, the battleship is the school, Rossiu is the Student Council President, Yoko carries a baraboo sword instead of a gun and is Simon and Kamina's childhood friend and Nia thinks she's Simon's "wife" because they can "corabine." Kamina and Simon are pretty much the same though)

As for a sequel, I don't know how they could do a sequel but I would love if they did like a few OVA's regarding stuff that happened in the 7 year timeskip.

There's nothing sexist about a female lead who can be whatever she wants, with no social pressure to have to somehow be both at the same time.

It didn't really need foreshadowing, as it's not particularly relevant to the plot. It is, however, thematically important on at least a couple levels. The rest of society, as we were shown, kinda sucked. The schoolkiRAB represent a new generation to have hope for.

I was thinking more of the lines about that kid who had trouble drilling into that coconut at the end of the final episode. I could see Simon playing mentor as he teaches the kid the ropes of handling a Gunmen. Plus the show neeRAB to make up for why it didn't want to see the 40-year old Yoko. I did the math and if she was 14, maybe 16, in Series 1 before the timeskip and around 23 in Series 2, then Yoko would still look great even if she was about to hit the ripe age of 50. There's no stopping the hotness.

Maybe a movie could continue the Gurren Lagann series but this time, make the story an original story rather than just new animation here and there with clips of all of the episodes strung together. That method ruined the Alabasta arc in One Piece Movie 8 and it shouldn't bite the show in the butt once again.
