Just looking for opinions and ideas out there about women who like to hike and camp alone but feel it may be necessary to protect herself with a firearm. I know all the warnings, and not looking for lectures, just opinions and ideas. Thanks !

I know the bind you are in. My family and friends don't happen to share my interest in the outdoors, so I end up hunting and camping alone. Most of my time in the woods is when I am hunting, so it is quite normal and legal for me to be carrying a weapon. I figure a human predator is going to look for easier prey than an armed, alert hunter! But when it's time to bed down for the night, I sleep in a locked car (a hatchback with the back seat folded down) instead of a tent, for security reasons. When the weather is decent, I would far rather sleep in the tent. But I'm not comfortable doing so.

I feel much More comfortable with my firearm because many areas I come across bear, cougar, and other tracks so just as a precaution I carry. I mainly use it to scare like anyone because you don't want to kill. Get into a complications with fish and game that way.
