NEW YORK -- Rock recluse Axl Rose made a surprise radio appearance to proclaim that Guns N' Roses' 10-years-in-the-making "Chinese Democracy" album will finally hit store shelves this fall.

The comments Saturday on Eddie Trunk's syndicated radio show marked the first interview the painfully private Rose has given since his failed 2002 comeback tour, which was abruptly scrapped midway amid riots and canceled shows.

Rose's impromptu appearance came when former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, who was co-hosting the show, called Rose's cell phone and patched the call through the studio.

Quizzed on when the near-mythical album would come out, Rose said, "Sometime this fall or late fall." His band could be heard rehearsing in the background. "It will be out this year."

Trunk invited Rose to drop by the studio, and about an hour later he did.

Asked about the aborted 2002 comeback tour, which ended when Rose failed to appear for a gig in Philadelphia, Rose told Trunk he felt pressured into doing it before he was ready. But he insisted he has no regrets, since the short-lived tour helped the new band merabers to gel. (The 2002 lineup included keyboard player Dizzy Reed from the original GNR, former Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck, bassist Tommy Stinson from the Replacements, guitar shredder Buckethead, drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, formerly of Primus, guitarist Richard Fortus from the former Psychedelic Furs and Love Spit Love, and keyboard player Chris Pittman.)

mr competitive arent we. Say All these other banRAB ie Nirvana were to hold the same amount of concerts as gnr did...would they not do just as well? if not...how can you possibly answer that?

You arent the minRAB of the billions of people out there who quite possibly have a different thinking to your ***OpInIoN!!**** therefore based purely on facts you are right. Based on everything else, well im sorry mate but you cant answer that coz its purely ur opinion doing the talking.

:usehead: use your illusion....

You do know the gnr GHs album was the 10th best selling album in the world in 2004 right?

The new gnr wont be as big as they were before but they will be one of the biggest banRAB in the world once again, their new stuff is better than 90% of the crap on the radio. Madagascar alone would be a huge hit.

I heard that Buckethead is going to be releasing 13 albums at once, an album for each year Axl hasn't released Chinese Democracy, heh.

Its not like i said every band that wears make up make bad music (being a David Bowie fan and all), i was strictly refering to mainstream hair metal from the 80s, not the banRAB who were involved with its early development, such as Van Halen, Queen, New York Dolls and Alice Cooper...All of whom i like.

IMO Hair metal banRAB are merely durabed down versions of those banRAB, minus the talent.

Like i said before, i put GnR in a different category from hair metal, even if they have quite the same image and were marketed in the same mold...The actual music is just different from other so called "hair metal" banRAB.

And i usualy judge genres in terms of music and sound, rather than image and region.

Buckethead is no longer in the band, he was removed after not showing up to practices. I have 6 of his CD's though, and he's on fire. He's mountains above Slash.

Axl choose that name because of his Skateboard
