Guns N' Roses (Yes and Chinese Democracy, so don't make other threads on it.)

Yeah you really gave it to me slugger.
Especially after me looking at the Nirvana fan club gallery and spotting this and me saying, "Oh man, I have to put this in the GNR thread."
No actually, I intentionally looked for a stupid Chinese magazine cover for 7.355 hours.
Lol and I'm not ranting and raving.
Twice I've said, "NO DRAVEN YOU WIN THIS ARGUMENT."
Twice you've said, " NO, I MUST HUMILIATE YOU MORE."
Just let it go, I mean I may be a wannabe sore loser but it beats the hell out of a sore winner..
So don't try to argue, it'll just make you more of a sore winner and it won't ****ing matter lol.
In fact, it'll just prove my point of how big of a loser you are.
Let this thread die, knave.

it was more in asthetic perception. Keef keeps the stones grounded from taking off into ridiculous stupidity in my opinion. As we've seen, without the Slahsh-anchor, Gun's is trying to be a NIN/Queen corabo.

well i neva realised wen i posted this thread ther wud b so many replys n so much controversy i think axl wud b proud! draven is rite in evrything he says GnR epitomise evrythin a rock band shud b, they av only 1 original meraber av not released ne new material in like ova 10 years yet they still av millions of dedicated fans new n old how many banRAB can say that! not very many. in their heyday they sold over 50 million albums and perfomed sell-out gigs world-wide wether ur a fan or not u have 2 admit that gnr wer pretty specail! so many people r also anticipating the release of chinese democracy. gnr are wot rock shud b about from axls voice to slashs solos they r one of the greatest banRAB ever. just listen to the likes of estranged, breakdown, patience, civil war n u'll soon c! 'and to all thoses who oppose hmm well huh'

'The album was a #1 American hit and worldwide sales exceeded 16 million.'
'VH1 named Appetite for Destruction the 42nd greatest album of all time.'

Forgive me if there is already one, I used the search feature and did not find one. Im curious to know what your thoughts are on the band. The 1987 line up, the 1990's lineup and the Chinese Democracy line-up (to many musicians to mention) In all honesty I love Guns N' Roses. I've been a fan of their music since I was 5 yrs old. The Chinese Democracy album has some great music on there and I was not let down. The new band is full of greatly talented musicians. Axl Rose, Robin Finck, Buckethead, and all the other musicians all brought that rawness and tough attitude back into the world of rock music with that album. Its a shame there are not a lot of new banRAB out there that have as much attitude as there is on Chinese Democracy. Thoughts?

Originally his real name was William Rose, it got changed to William Bailey when his mother remarried when he was 2 (changed it back to Rose after finding out Rose was his real fathers name), and ya, AXL was his first banRAB name.

Stu, I am sorry you are terrible at basic math and can not put two and two together, so I really won't even bother anymore. You can believe what ever you want but at gnrs peak and at LZs peak, gnr were just as big if not bigger. I have backed up all of that and then some, and you could not even refute it cept that LZ sold more albums than gnr and got life time achievement awarRAB which really have nothing to do with how huge a band was during their touring career. I made the statement that in the early 90s gnr were the biggest band since the beatles, and what did you turn it into, oh LZ had a better career than gnr because they sold more albums.

You took something I said out of context and turning it into this debate.
The sad fact that you cannot seem to understand is, LZ put out more albums than gnr thus they sold more albums. You also never adress that fact because you know I am right. You also totally ignored the fact that gnrs debate album is the biggest selling ever by a rock band (more than LZs debate album) and I even showed how AFD sold more than LZ IV in half the time, something else you just ignore.

Which is fine because you are grasping at straws. I am willing to bet you will have another post after this one ;)

I don't understand Texans and their flirting at all. Normal people are like "Hey are you wearing space pants? Cause you're ass is out of this world" but you guys are like "Oh box forts and monkey bars, push me baby oh yeah violenceee."

well this argument stretched for longer then it should've...congrats draven, you are the supreme ruler of the universe...but cobain was a bigger, more talented artist then rose...and i'm sure that cobain wouldn't have tried a pitifull comeback like rose did...if he didn't create great music any more he would have retreated gracefully...i'd imagine...and axl is nothing without slash, while nirvana is nothing without cobain, he WAS nirvana...thread closed!

You bet your ass Ill have a reply to that. Do you think I'll just roll over. First of all, don't think you get any credit from me defending Led Zeppelin, its not as if you havn't had tons or already argued points to choose from.

So ill bullet point the crap out of your argument since there seem to be alot of conventional wisdom inaccuracies:

1. "They were the pioneers of everything I listen to today" while you've got no idea what I listen to today, lets assume you meant they influenced everything today which is a load of crap. As previously mentioned on these boarRAB "Zeppelin just did everything better than anyone else" so invention wasn't really their forte and come to think of it, Zeppelin got sued alot for ripping off other peoples songs (i.e. The Lemon Song)

2. You havn't seen G n' R do any of what invent the same things Led Zeppelin did? How can you invent anything someone else did. reminRAB me of a Christopher Walken skit on SNL ("I wrote this song after I heard it on the radio") while invention doesn't make a band great, we could say that G n' R was the first group to have an Fing Recorder on their record to have Axl screwing a chick put in the middle of a song (Rocket Queen)

3. No I've never seen it written anywhere that Zeppelin was the greatest live act. That was always (until well after Zeppelin was done touring) The Rolling Stones. It wasn't even contested until probably the late 80's early 90's, not that GnR was a great act live (when they showed up) it was never Led Zeppelin, only bias fanboy's like yourself will say that.

4. As far as Noveraber Rain is concerned. That songs for little girls and I don't know anyone who says that it was GnR's greatest hit. While not many songs match up with Stairway, to put it up against NR was a cheap shot. Paradise City is clearly their biggest song.

5. You forgot their aweful stab at salsa in the coda to Fool in the Rain. I don't know how their one dimensional, alot of things were just factored into rock songs. Alder used to include disco break beats, there was certainly blues rif***e as Slash was blues trained, folk influence certainly made Lies and its without question they they threw a whole lot of punk into their sound. Compare GnR to any other rock band at the time, better yet just listen to "its so easy" and you can hear it in the sneer when Axl says "Turn around bitch I've got a use for you, besides you ain't got nothing better to do, and im bored." If its not punk to you, then you don't know punk.

As for my arguement; Zeppelin had alot of crap in their later work, in fact from the latter half of their collection the only thing I can think of that was exceptional was achillies last stand. Guns and Roses were the only band at the top when they came out, and as much as Kurt Cobain was given credit for abolishing Hair Metal, I think it owes its death to one third Cobain, one third itself, and one third Axl. He gave up writting mindless songs like Girls Girls Girls (god I hate Motley Crue) and stopped with the Glam crap and just rocked. In my mind, the only band that has a chance to out rock GnR is AC/DC.
