Gundam 00, Code Geass now on Youtube Shows

Hmm...so this was probably the big announcement. Code Geass season one is also on YouTube Shows as well.

I've been wanting to check this out, and I probably will once I get the free time now.

I guess the way the group the show in it's own little specail place with pictures and not a playlist is aside the fact...........

Whoa, hold on now. There's a substantial difference. The video quality is now much better, with the video size considerably larger. They've done this for Code Geass too, by the way, so I'll update the thread title accordingly.

Here's my attempt at a side-by-side comparison of the video quality. I took two screenshots of my screen displaying the different types of video, cropping out the same area on the page.

Good for them, this is a good step forward. Now, get some other series up on the channel......preferably some of the older stuff in the catalog!

I suppose I should also chime in that it looks like they've put all the English dub of Gundam 00 (season 1) up there. What they had up before was sketchy and incomplete.

Also, at least the 00 videos have the sunrise logo on them. If you look at the Crunchyroll press release, they mentioned that Bandai Channel, not BEI was making the deal. Bandai channel is a sister company of BEI. Looks like the parent company is stepping in on a few places

Via YouTube?

Probably because of rights issues.

I'm waiting for FUNimation to make some sort of announcement. I am surprised BANDAI beat them to it.

Good Lord BANDAI, upload MSG and the film versions, subbed!!

That's the thing though: Bandai hasn't sold the rights to Gundam 00 to anyone in Canada! The only way a conflict like this could arise is if a broadcaster was involved, which clearly isn't the case with Code Geass since that's available without restriction. There are two theories floating around:

1) A broadcaster (most likely YTV) has the broadcast/streaming rights to Gundam 00 but either changed their mind and decided not to air it, or are merely waiting until fall to air it.

2) Bandai is still trying to sell the broadcast rights in Canada and is refraining from streaming it to make the property appear more viable.

All total speculation of course.

Well then, if could very well be the products shall become available at a later time. I remeraber youtub.com/BANDAIEntertainment having allowed Canadian acess recently...

Well, hopefully, they now focus their efforts to finishing up the dub of season 2. The people I talk to on SyFy (Sci-Fi) forums want to see part 2 but most will probably only watch it dubbed.

This seems to be the more likely option, but here's why they would wait to air it. Just as [adult swim] has been able to air Code Geass basically straight through, by delaying 00 they can actually air season 1 & 2 back-to-back, as it is rumored that season 2 is now being dubbed.

The funny thing is, 00 actually works better with a break halfway through. There's a 4 year time skip in story and a 6 month hiatus in reality. Those 6 months are a reasonable approximation to make the audience be on the same general page as the cast.

I agree, I think that is best to feel the time skip with the story. Code Geass had a one year time skip, and one yet hiatus in Japan, but in america, there was no hiatus, went right to the next season.

Kind of a off topic question, but I didn't want to start a thread for this, but in the dub casts, did Brandai go out of its way to cast people who are not in the Code Geass main cast on the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 main cast?

I am not criticising any of the casts, nor saying one cast is better than the other, but given it is the same company, you think they would recycle some of the actors? If so, I can understand, a majority of the audiance watches both shows, and you want the characters to have their own identities and not have them associates with characters from another show.
