Dear Manitoba, I have 2 questions, are they treating you with anything currently? and what is your ( approximate ) age? Apparently Ulcers and gallstones present with similar symptoms, this is not the first time I've heard both diagnoses, for your kind of pain. Have you been tested? IF its gallstones, your bloodwork may show a liver count elevation. Or, they could treat you with ulcer medication & see if that works, or, do an Upper GI, where you swallow some Chalky tasting stuff, and they watch it go thru your system.
My fathers Doc was on vacation, and his nurse, treated my father with ulcer medication. Turns out, it was gallstones all the time. His gall bladder actually "died" in his body and they removed the whole thing in pieces, and the stones dispersed into his system. It was a mess. But, he is 77 years old. If it is gallstones, get tested ASAP, as they must figure out a treatment plan depending on the size of the stones. Sometimes they can just use radiation, and shrink them, or sometimes you need surgery.
Gallstones are common, in the 3 "F's." Hate to say it, but I am one, so I know. the 3 "F"s = Fat, Female, and Forty. So, if the pains that bad, don't wait! The treatments really aren't that bad. and worse case scenario, surgery is pretty easy for that these days, but sometimes they wait a long time, you may be on a "list." As it is so common.
Good Luck!! and feel better..... Sherbear38
