Gulf of Mexico is now a No Fly Zone

I am sure there are some pilots on here who can help me sort this out http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_0_5100.html#areas . I understand if they want to regulate the increased air traffic, but closing it altogether smacks of the previous administration. So much for transparency .
 
Reading the link you posted, it looks like they are trying to decrease air traffic congestion in that area.
 
They have enough low level air traffic in the region from the cleanup crew so anyone wanting to take a helicopter tour of the spill needs to be ok'd.

Not sure what the complaint is.
 
Were you planning a low level flight through the Gulf? I don't see the issue here?
 
I could not make heads or tails of it so that's why I tossed it out to OTAP. They are experts on everything!
 
With this spill and the changes it has brought to the Gulf, I guess I'll have to find scenery updates for FS9.
 
The conspiracy-oriented websites are starting to come up with a theory that this is all a huge coverup for a massive terrorist attack against our petroleum infrastructure in the Gulf.
 
I read somewhere that the North Koreans did it. Damn, I can't remember where I read that garbage.
