Guitar Debate: Using Pledge on a fretboard?

Alright, this is something that is constantly debated on guitar forums and everywhere: using Pledge on a guitar's fretboard.

I have Extra Moisture Pledge (w/ lemon oil) and then a Rejuvenating oil with Orange Oil. Considering carefully trying a tiny bit on my basses, but don't know which would be better (if any).

I've also heard that some people use olive oil to condition their fretboards... including a few that claim to be guitar luthiers (when searching online, some articles).

Note: I'm trying to consider things that I HAVE at home, yes I know that lemon oil and brand name conditioners are best... just considering alternatives! I have rosewood fretboards on both of my basses.

One of my fretboards has a lot of wear so is it OK to use ANY type of polish over it? Also it has pearl inlays (not sure if they are actually made of pearl), obviously I want to avoid getting the polish on the frets, but also the inlays I assume? It looks pretty dry, and needs a good cleaning/conditioning.
