Guinea Pigs Outdoors?

My little guinea pigs live outside in a very lovely and roomy hutch. I've seen lots of people say keeping them outside is awful?........Is it really? I'd love to know the answer. I plan to move their home into a shed come the winter months. I'd love to hear your answers.
 
They are fine in the outside in a hutch in the summer months they just need to be inside somewhere in the winter. And the hutch shouldn't be in direct sun. You shed should be fine for the winter. Do they also have a large run as they need to be allowed out for a run every day for as long as possible weather permitting.
 
An outdoor hutch is entirely natural. Just be careful in cold weather, make sure they have proper shielding from the rain and most importantly make absolutely sure the bottom of the cage is not wire. Wire can cause a very serious and painful issue in guinea pigs called bumblefoot where they get swollen and sore due to the harsh wire on the sensitive pads of the feet. However, it's great that you have more then one as well, seeing as it socialized them. As long as theres no wire flooring, you're doing everything fine!

mine live outside all year round and are very happy, they have a 20ft x 6 ft run that has been dug out and lined with fine mesh and then re filled the dig happily and live in there little burrows, they have a clean dry hutch to wander in and out of and seem really happy.
