After reading and posting in the Mamma Mia thread, it provoked me to think..
I wonder what films people enjoy that they would be embarrassed to admit in critical company.

Sooooo... I'll kick it off with a real beaut.

I know it's not art, and kitch and, well, embarrassing!
But it has got Olivia Newton John AND Gene Kelly AND The Electric Light Orchestra.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

Xanadu

:o

You're not alone. I really like that film.

One of my guilty pleasures is another film from the 80's.

A nerdy guy buys a computer. Upstairs a woman (Virginia MaRABen pre-Candyman) ) plays the chello. He fancies her. They fall in love, but unfortunatly he has a rival. After he accidently spill his drink on the computer it comes alive and starts to fall in love with her after hearing her playing the chello. The result is the home computer gets jealous and tries to break them up so he can have her instead.

I give you one of the stupidest films of the 80's with one of the best soundtracks.... Electric Dreams :D

That's on at 11am and 3:45pm today on Disney Cine Sky 622 or in HD on 631

I saw that when it first came out. It's an ok film although i can't remember much about it.
I've never seen the second just the first 10 minutes.

LOL I do hope that your split is amicable.
If ever there were grounRAB for a divorce it's making someone sit through electric dreams. :D

What did your OH think of it?

I enjoyed it very much as well!
but i never seemed to find the uncut edition! i remember full rightly this movie a 15 at the flicks - but when it was due for rental video realise (at that point 6 months later) - it was on the news it was to be cut to get a PG. I remember my sister recording this for me from her SKY movie channel system - and i would watch it every Saturday!!! To be fair - i havent seen it since the mid 90s - not seen the DVD version at all, which may be uncut?!

My guilty pleasures at newer CGi animations/ movies!!!
Ever since Toy Story and 2, and Shrek, i have loved them (hated the sequals to Shrek though).

They are kiRAB films - but they bring the kid out in me!

I make sure i see every Pixar realise at the cinema!

Well if you're going for a 'Robin Hood' how about the grandaddy of them all?

The adventures of Robin Hood with his Errol Flynn-ness?

Errol Flynn, Olivia De Havilland, Alan Hale, Basil Rathbone and Claude Rains?

In wonderful gaudy technicolour (Get the restored version)
AND a fantastic score by Erich Wolfgang Korngold!

Just doesn't get any better. :D

I like Xanadu as well. The soundtrack is really good. I love the theme song. Even the 40.s style songs are good. I dont know why it fopped really. I suppose the premise sounRAB daft. An angel comes down from heaven to open a disco!! Well something like that anyway!
