Not as simple as the base question may look, I have tried numerous things to try and get my ping down in Guild Wars, but it just will not cut it.
Firstly, here is my system specs:
RAM: 1.7 gb (Recommended for the game: 512mb)
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 6100 nForce 405 (An old one I know, but it used to run Guild Wars fine)
Processor: AMD athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor 3800+
Windows XP, professional SP3
Internet:
Virgin Broadband: 8mb (rarely get 8mb, normally around the 5-6mb range, extreme early morning and very late nigth can get to about 7.6mb at most)
My problem is not my connection (I don't think) as when the map is loading, it goes to 100% in less than a second. After it has got to 100% it just sits there for sometimes a minute saying 100% and not doing anything. Then, when the map does load, i have an awful ping (2,000 at best) and I cannot move, the only time i do not lag is when i am in matches in RA or any explorable area, but it takes me about 15 minutes to run from one side of kamadan to the other, no joke.
What i have already tried:
New drivers from Nvidia (no effect)
Virus scan (nothing found, no effect)
malware scan (nothing found, no effect)
spyware scan (nothing found, no effect)
I have tried cleaning out my registry with a paid for trusted program (no effect)
I have removed temporary files with Ccleaner (no effect)
Uninstalled/Reinstalled guild wars (no effect)
I am not a computer wizz kid so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
