GTA4 Multiplayer = meh

Thought it'd be a much better multiplayer. It looks great, but the racing games are not as much fun, and the Deathmatches are slightly odd. I'll probably get used to it, but still a bit iffy about it. Same for Team Deatchmatch. Haven't played Free Mode and some others, but waiting until morning to play it out with some friends.

What'cha think?
 
The only thing that makes me sad is the fact that it's 16 players max. An environment that big should be able to have more than 16 people.
 
haha don't listen to this chotch... every review of the game so far has said outstanding multiplayer. this guy probably thinks call of duty's multiplayer is boring.
 
it would have serious frame-rate issues keeping more than 16 people and the entire city going at once. you'd need a ps4 and super internet.
 
Not particularly, it's great in fact. I've given it a try once again this morning, and it is REALLY fucking good, but the Airport matches are absolutely shit. It's just that map. Tried Turf War and Free Mode. Both were awesome.

I did one round of cops and robbers, and one free play round.

Cops and robbers seems pretty cool, I imagine it'd be even better when premade teams of friends join in.

But free play is where its at. I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted on GTA:SA's limited 2 player. Now we can do it with lots more.
 
Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that you go back to Single Player or Party Mode after every fucking match? Is fucking annoying. But at least it's less annoying with the Party Mode, as you and your group can get together before getting into the game.
 
Anyone know how to mute the other team or players in general?

Having 16 people all talking at once is a pain, i can't talk to my own team mates and get a plan together.
 
You should be able to do it from your phone. Click the up pad, go to Players and then if you click on their names, you should be able to mute them. from there.



From the single player, use the mobile, go to "Multiplayer" from that list, then choose the top choice (can't remember name, but don't choose Ranked too soon), then the game mode you want to play in.



You can do it from the Start menu. Just go to "Controller" on there, press A and voila.
