I thought it may have been the media but its the same on both discs i burned on. Dunno if I want a noisey 12x drive As you say, not major problem. Would a HD make any difference (as I dont have one)?

Yeah i noticed the noise difference from 8x to 12x, Has for changing from SDTV to HDTV won't make any difference for the framerate problems, Thats just in the game and nothing you can do about it, But graphics wise you will see a big difference, I know because when i first had my 360 i only had a SDTV, Then i bought a HDTV and was very suprised how much better the graphics are.

Oh, No a HDD won't make any difference for framerate.
