ok so rogers is phasing out their analog service this spring.. my dad has this massive JRC fixed 3 watt mobile phone in his truck.. its ancient but he loves it because it works anywhere plus the buttons are huge. Is there anything like that out there now that is quadband that I could get him? I was lookign at the moto m900.. but I'm not too sure.. any suggestions?

RAZR, KRZR and PEBL from motorola are all quadband. just don't expect them to last very long...

Seriously, unless your dad is a frequent traveller between North America and the rest of the world, you will only need phones supporting the 850 and 1900 bands, which are pretty standard.

I would have some suggestions, but could you list what you'd like the phone to have? For example, a camera, a video camera, flip phone, slider, open face, swivel, removable memory, PPT etc.

The Motorola M900 is the only GSM bag phone or fixed base phone around. The other choice is the M800 CDMA bag phone neither the M900 or the M800 are 3 watt bag phones.

No need for quad band, unless he drives his truck into Central America. They haven't built the bridge across the Bering Strait yet.

You can't drive to South America yet either. There is a gap of about 70 km.
