group b strep test?!?!?! (35 weeks)?

Okay so at a doctors appointment today they informed me that they were planning a group b strep test... thats all fine and dandy but I didnt even know what it was. I was checking online and it said a vaginal and rectal swab... Now with my current bleeding status and the fact that I cant lay down without bleeding I dont want anyone swabbing anything. My baby is breech and they are scheduling a c-section so reguardless if I have the group b step or not, why should I get the test? the baby wont be passing the birth canal and they are not even going to let me labor. So I guess my question is, can I deny the test and if I chose to have it done, how is it done? Does it hurt? I need help!!! :(

you shouldnt need it with a csection, the only time strep is worrysome is with natural labor and delivery vaginally then you need extra antibiotics before hand

Just had mine done last week, 36 weeks and I also have a c section planned. I wondered the exact same thing since baby will not be passing through the canal but I didn't even bother asking because I figured it wasn't going to kill me. You will not feel a thing and my doc only did it vaginally. It was just a q-tip. I would ask if I were you but it's probably just a precautionary measure because apparently babies can get really sick.
