My horse and I absolutely suck at showmanship. A lot of it is probably my fault, but I my horse is also really oblivious to what I'm doing on the ground, and he just doesn't really pay attention to me. I'd like to work on more groundwork to get him paying attention to my body language and what I'm asking him to do on the ground, so what kinds of things should I do? Thanks!
I'm not sure if you understood my question... we're fine at riding. There's no problem there. Its groundwork, and showmanship (leading a horse on the ground through a pattern, basically) that we struggle with.
