Classic movie.
It's essentially a sci-fi premise that has been done many times on shows like Star Trek. Characters stuck in some sort of loop, having to repeat the same events and trying to get out of it.
I also think there is a very powerful and moving scene in the middle...not long after Murray has been having lots of fun with his situation, and believing he is virtually a god. He meets the old man starving on the street and tries to help him, give him food etc.
But the old man always dies, no matter what he does.
It's a slightly jarring moment in the middle of what is basically a comedy, but this is where I maintain it is a serious sci-fi concept that has been adapted for a comedy movie. Those are issues you have to address, and they cannot be ignored.
