I agree with EducatedPanther. Im sure you did not tear anything. Any abdominal pressure will cause pain right now. That includes vomiting, coughing, laughing, and sneezing. REST and Pain medicine. That is the only answer. My doctor was a little stingy with the painkillers. That really aggravated me. I didnt stop complaining until he wrote the prescription! Even if I didnt need them I felt better knowing that I had them in my closet. The surgeon might tell you to take Motrin or Advil. Thats fine, HOWEVER, if you are in pain you should also have painkillers. Just be careful because some painkillers can make you throw up, which obviously will cause more abdominal pain. For me, I can only take Vicodin. Percocet gets me nauseus. Percocet is also stronger than Vicodin so if you can handle it, it is probably more helpful. I do have to point out that you can easily become dependent on painkillers. Only you know how you truly feel. If you need them, take them. I am currently taking Vicodin for back and neck pain from previous surgeries and I have to be honest with you, I would find it hard to stop taking it right now. So with that, just be careful.
Joe.

Thanks for the reassurance. I sneezed today and felt the same thing, almost like a painful pop. I can double check with my doctor on Monday, but I'm sure it's normal. Most of the time it is just soreness or pain, no "pop" feeling. The good thing is that the pain has improved considerably and I don't feel quite ad weak :)

You sneezed already? I swear I didnt sneeze for a few weeks. It was a miracle. I was so nervous when I felt the sneeze coming. Well...it sounds like you are doing good. Keep it up.

I sneezed a FEW times today and ouch, still hurt for sure! I definitely try to hold in my sneezes when I can. The worst was the coughing though... I had some water and it went down the wrong way so I coughed pretty hard the day after the surgery or so!

Well, tomorrow I'm going back to work! I feel much, much better. I notice that I feel a "ridge" along the incisions, so I'm guessing there are still stitches in there and it'll be a little while until they dissolve. Other than the ridge, my stomach isn't too swollen like it was before. I'd stay it's still a tiny bit swollen, but my clothes fit just fine and I don't look 3 months pregnant anymore ;)! Right now I'm just taking over the counter pain medication as needed. I think the Vicodin was making me feel depressed when mixed with my Prozac, because I felt very moody and sad.

I haven't gone for any walks really yet because I've still been tired, but I did go shopping today, so I did a bit of walking around (no heavy shopping bags though of course!). I've been going out and about to nearby places that don't cause a lot of stress, but just haven't been to the gym to walk on the treadmill or go walking outdoors. I will soon though!! My dogs like that I interract with them more again. One of them got very sick this morning, so I was glad to be well enough to take her to the vet. I had to carry the poor girl up the stairs to my apartment because she wouldn't get up, but other than that, no lifting over 10 pounds!

Coughing hurt worse than sneezing for me... sneezing didn't bother me much after the surgery. I still feel a bit of a ridge where the incision was, and I had mine done in July. It will take probably more than a year for everything to return to 100% normal I imagine, but I am able to move and be active as normal.

Glad you are doing well! Good you are off the powerful meds already too.
