You are right.. I am very lucky to not be in severe pain. I actually have no pain at all right now. I feel some pressure/fullness in the area, but it's not painful. I'm glad to get the surgery done before it gets to that point though!

I dont know exactly what he plans yet. He did say that he would surgically remove the screw. I also had 2 titanium tacks implanted in addition to the titanium screw. So lets see...I had a huge piece of titanium mesh, 2 titanium tacks, and 1 titanium screw. I dont even know if he would be able to remove the mesh. It has been in my body for almost 10 months now. I still dont know what I am going to do. But...I can tell you that the Ilioinguinal Nerve Block shot he gave me 3 days ago hurts like hell right now. It hurts exactly where he inserted the needle. Hurts pretty bad. I dont know if I would ever do that again. I will let you know how it feels after 1 week (next Tuesday). It supposedly takes 7-10 days for these Nerve blocks to take effect. So far NO RELIEF only more pain.

I just talked to my surgeon's office and it looks like I'll be getting two separate incisions, about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long for each hernia. Based on its location, it looks like they may be indirect inguinal hernias, but I guess I will find out for sure as I go in. They will also be using disolvable stitches and confirmed that the traditional repair method (without mesh) will be used for me. I hope it all goes well! November 2nd is my surgery date. I am just ready to go and get it over with!!

Great! Glad to hear you are getting them fixed soon! Trust me... it's so much nicer to have mine done... I wish I had gotten mine done before it became troublesome.

There are some cases where the mesh is needed, but usually only in the worst cases... After reading the other posts here, I am glad I got the traditional fix.
