I know it's only been out a week but i'm surprised there has been no talk here about it. I know the films and trailers are exactly as they were in the cinema and are not the extended versions currently available to buy but it just seems like there is so much extra stuff.

Has this only been released on blu-ray?

The films were pretty poor, to modern and not enough of a grindhouse feel but i'd probably just get it for the Werewolf Women of the SS Trailer, the making of and commentery:o

You can buy the DVD of the films separately. The Grindhouse package is only on blu ray and is an HMV exclusive for the time being. You can buy the extended versions of the film on DVD separately as they have been out for some time now.

Am I missing something? wasn't the separate cut of Deathproof over two hours long, the one on that new blu ray is only 84ish minutes?

Or was the original cut in the all in one only 84ish minutes and Tarantino made it a longer cut for the separate release?

These are the original cuts of the films. Planet Terror and Death Proof both had lots of additional footage added in on their original DVD/Blu ray releases so if you buy this you will be losing a lot of that footage. This is the same version that was in the cinemas and is the first time it has been released in America and here in the UK.

If i'm right in thinking both films were reduced in running time when released as Grindhouse but longer when solo.

I have Planet Terror on dvd and but couldnt sit through all Deathproof as I found it boring.

I happened to catch the original theatrical cut when there was a one off showing at one of my local independents and I have to say I loved it. I'll certainly be picking this one up.

You're sort of right. It wasn't a reduced running time, but the intended running time

The original idea was to release both films together with the trailers in between. Hence the 80 odd minute run times. I think it actually came out like that in the US.

Then they decided to release them both seperately (loosing most of the trailers) and had to extend the films. This is the version that was on general release in the UK. I thought Planet Terror was OK, but hated Deathproof which seemed to go on for ever with it's dull pointless, conversations. I liked the off-topic conversations in QT's othe films, but in Deathproof, I just wanted them to shut up. I'd quite like to see the shorter version of Deathproof to see if it improves it any.

The grindhouse version of Death Proof was famous for it's 'missing reels' and there is quite a lot of footage cut out especially in the second half of the film but it is all the better for it. I'm tempted to buy it but i have a feeling the

I bought a R1 copy off ebay the other day. Really looking forward to see it in it's intended original format, loved both films, especially Death Proof and I'm looking forward to seeing those trailers again.

I paid a fair old penny for these 2, importanted from the Sates on Special Edition DVD a few years back. They where the uncut versions as well.

a little disgusted that not all the trailers were on them to be honest. As I was so looking to seeing these trailer since I heard the movie was green lite and expected them when the movie wes released as a double feature on the cinema - which didnt happen!!!!

still, me and my mate had a lovely night watching the 2 back to back - over a Hells pizza feast and lots chocs and ice cream.

I feel hard pressed to buy them again on bluray. In fact - I wont at all.

watched it last night - fantastic.

Though the notion of parodying trashy films isn't a new one - The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Amazon Women On The Moon spring to mind, I felt there was something totally unique about this film, though I can't quite put my finger on it. But it was a spectacularly crafted celebration of celluloid schlock.

Hilarious mock trailers - 'Machete' (which I'm dying to see),'Don't!', 'Werewolf Women of the SS' and 'Thanksgiving', were all great fun, featuring some great cameos, Mark Gatiss and 'Nicholas Cage as Fu Manchu'!:D

And I'd forgotten just how funny Planet terror was, it was an absolute riot. As zom-coms go, this is equally as funny as Shaun of the Dead.

Death Proof zooms along now some of the chit chat has been cut out - only no lap dance!! I loved that bit of the film.

I noticed that it drops the grainy film effect about half way through (but they still maintain that dodgy editing). I noticed this before and always wondered why - was it an error? Had it have been I'm sure by this stage it would have easily been corrected so we have to assume it was intentional and it kind of makes more sense in this cut of the film as it occurs exactly half way through the feature - I assume that Tarantino was using it to suggest a transition in time, from previous events to more current events.

It was great to finally see them both back to back and a s a feature film this is probably up there as one of my all time favourites.
