Great piece on S&TC2 in the Guardian

Quite funny and well written, but her comments are based on seeing the trailer and a few online clips. Hardly enough to denounce a movie.

I'm not a huge fan of the series but it's poor journalism.

You would think Sex and the City is the only movie that is frothy and full of product placement with amount of criticism it receives for being like that.

It's just a fun summer movie at the end of the world. I find the level of criticism Sex and the City receives bizarre.

I didn't even have to read the article to find out what she thought, just read the end part of the URL....sex-and-the-city-film-terrible

its not just that the film is light and frothy, as so many others are, as you rightly point out. its more that the tv series was so groundbreaking that its such a disappointment that the films are so terrible. i think she's bang on in what she says

the films are massive with (mainly) women, and i think it says quite a lot about what women want..

It's meant to be awful - most of the reviews I've read have been mainly negative. The worst thing is that the vast majority of the film isn't even set in New York, which makes the 'City' aspect of 'Sex and the City' null and void.

They always said New York was the fifth star of the show so why they've made a film in which it barely appears I'll never know..

I'm seeing this tonight (prebooked tickets - most of the showings have sold out!) and can't wait :D

I'm really disappointed with the bad reviews but as a huge fan of the show i'm just glad too see the girls back together. Roll on 7.30 tonight :p

She's spot on, the whole SATC 'phenomenon' (retch) has been responsible for many evils in society. Gotta love The Guardian though for how some kind of accusation of 'racism' simply had to be worked into the article, even if it is brought up and dealt with fairly early on.
