This project is a long ways away for me, but I thought I'd get a jump while I am stuck inside recovering again.

The best Live albums you own or have heard.

Heres a few of mine

The Allman Brothers - Live at Filmore East
The Who - Live at LeeRAB
Bob Dylan and the Band - Before the Flood
Van Morrison - To Late to Stop Now
The Band and FrienRAB - Last Waltz
Neil Young - Live Rust
Nirvana - Unplugged in NYC
The YardbirRAB - Five Live YardbirRAB
Otis Redding - In person (Whiskey a go-go)

I'm a Dylan addict, and I found a NET tape of him singing Pancho & Lefty...I was hooked. I really can't judge RVM "objectively," for very personal reasons, but for what it's worth, I think it's not only his best CD, but one of the two or three greates live releases ever. I take it you're a Van Zandt fan too?

I bought a bunch of stuff when I read he was "Americana's answer to Nick Drake", that was in like 1980, I guess I can see what they mean, it's a little dated for sure, but it's he's a really interesting song writer and performer.

Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won
Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong
Peter Gabriel - Secret World Live

I don't usually listen to live albums, but I know HTWWW is great.

Hmm, the thing about Van Zandt's music is that, for me, it hasn't really dated. His best songs already seem timeless. Most of the studio albums are dated, but that's mainly due to questionable production values.

Whenever people ask me what I think the saddest song ever is, I have to tell them that it's the version of Tecumseh Valley on Rear View Mirror. Owen Cody's fiddle playing is one of the most stunningly haunting instrumental performances I've ever heard.
