My grandpa is going to a nursing home for rehab and we are told that Medicare will cover 20 days. If he is not able to go home after 20 days then we are told his assets will be assessed and his house may have to be sold along with any other valuable items. I am confused because my grandmother will not be going to a nursing home and is still living at home. She is just unable to take care of my grandpa any longer. They live out of state and unfortunately there are no family members available to move in and take care of him. Will my grandma really have to sell her house? Does anyone have an helpful information for me?
