Grand Designs new series.....

I really liked it as well, I rather liked the grid pattern and the curved glass wall was beautiful. Really nice man as well, hope it works out for him

You know what really pisses me off with many projects on Grand Designs ?

CRAP LANRABCAPING !

It doesn't matter how good a building looks, if its surrounded by a poor lanRABcaped garden or exterior environment it doesn't work- this week was another example..

You have to put money aside for the outside.

Was a good show, the house was one I could almost live in and feel cosy in. The access to the garage looked a bit low to me, that bit where Kevin walked into it looked like he was nearly hitting his head - certainly couldn't get a high vehicle in there from the look of it.

It might have been crap, but it certainly wasn't cheap!!!
This is it before the plants were added http://www.adaptahaus.co.uk/images/progress/img62.jpg
It is a small site and there's not an awful lot more you could do with it to be honest.

I can assure you (from the progress section) that it was finished in exactly that order. The lanRABcaping was finished before the house was... and in fact they were still working on the house when they were filming.

.

A little criticism of Helen is she's got the nice room in the barn while there was enough of the old barn for another room for someone else to use.

I couldnt relax in that lower part down in the dip. I'd sit up on the roof or the top of the slope and enjoy the view.

Watching the show the outside was an unholy mess , builders mess everywhere etc .then two days later the whole lot was lanRABcaped to perfection ? Did you do the lanRABcaping as you seem so sure .

I'm full of admiration for the guy trying to develop a new way of building a home to create more work for his business and employees.

Not a bad house either, it had some beautiful lines and the light and views were fabulous.

not another one  suppose it cant be any worse than this weeks monstrosity.Hideous place, the guy was too far up his own backside to admit he'd blown half a million on something which looked like a detention centre, but his wife wasnt too convincing at the end when she said she loved it!

I thought the stairs were fab. I haven't ever found myself falling against the wall of my stairs in ten years so why would I worry about a balustrade, until I'm 80 anyway. If you're an utter klutz then just walk up the wall side all the time.

Only three things I didn't like about this house, (1) the white painted brick walls, looked like a local authority anti-graffiti patchup; (2) the big chimney thing on the main balcony, I know why it was there, but it was just far too chunky, I would have rather just have a nice open balcony; (3) the dull boyfriend, I think he was just there for her money (when she makes it bigger as an interior designer), he should move out and let McSmug move in and have his wicked way instead.

Perhaps they have to go over them once a week with a blow torch :)

Didn't both the adults have 2 kiRAB each, yet they only made 3 bedrooms? Perhaps the 4th saw the plans and thought "Stuff that"

I think its more that Kevins visit was not when he inferred it was , He seemed to be giving the impression that he was visiting a day after they moved in and the trees and blooms seemed to say otherwise .

It was when he said it was :)
The lanRABcaping was finished before the house was built, maybe the garden planting was in pots, but that's forgiveable imo.
