This was a woman who not only knew what she wanted in a house, but had the technical nouse to achieve it.

Well done to her.
 
It was truely awful , the concrete was so ugly , I hated the work top too! But what I found really bad planning was the kiRAB bedroom, they were miniscule and even the "mezzanine " didnt make up for it .
It was ugly outside and in and like you I wonder where the Grand Designs are gone .
 
I loved the concept. It was great seeing it all come together so quickly.

Agree on the grid bits on the floor they would be a pain but I'm sure it's something that could be dealt with pretty easily.

Next weeks looks fun though. We haven't had a disastrous build yet this series......
 
I thought it very deceptive how quick it was . The planning and actual build was all done and how long did that take .
Most kit houses go up very quickly but take months to plan and months to make in the factory .

And I agree with 2 shy , the carpet would be a major obstacle when moving walls as would the electrics , plumbing etc etc .
 
I like watching these programme for ideas for when I have a million to spare. :rolleyes:

How the other half live! I'm having to rebuild my house as I can even afford a bricklayer and now have to scrape the money together to hire a breaker to get through the old foundation.
 
Hopefully including all the hot air concerning this being a great design. I love minimalism, but to me, it looked like a bunker, and those floating ceiling panels and exposed wiring trays were just horrible. The place ended up as a design concept with zero warmth or personality.
 
Surely, the hi-tech fart-catcher would drop in a stealthy and eco-friendly fashion from its concealed recess, suck in the offending odour, and humanely release it back into the wild. :D
 
But at least they are all eco-bunkers.

This is the first house that I've found nothing that I like in it. Usually, even with houses that I've not liked, there have been elements that I thought "Yeah, I like that bit." But not with this house. I hated it's internal finish, it's pokey rooms (even the 'large' living room), the kitchen worktop, the stupid low roof, the shiny roof that the neighbours will love when the sun hits it and blinRAB anyone looking at it.

Prontopro, they said they couldn't plaster the walls as that would not allow the heat to radiate out. How true that is, I don't know. I still find it dificult to believe that a house can be heated throughout the year, just by the sun warming up the walls.
 
I loved this house inside & out ( I would definately put a hand rail on the stairs though) I thought after watching this that if my lottery numbers ever came up i would want to hire this woman to design and projecct manage a house for me.
 
I seem to remember someone posted a link to a picture of it moored out in the middle of nowhere looking very dejected and abandoned - mind you, it did look pretty abandoned when the family were actually living in it.
