Grand Designs new series.....

Cheap and very nasty was what I thought of it. Preferred the bungalow.

I once patinated some garden ornaments with the unpasteurised yoghurt trick. It worked fine and quite quickly but it didn't last. Within a year all the growths had gone. If conditions aren't right they won't survive once they've 'eaten' the yoghurt.

Yep, I record it and then skip through Kevin's "This was never going to be an easy build" and his other claptrap.

Just like to see the building going up.

It also spares me the "angst" element of the the owners of the property, many of the problems about which we have to see them agonising, are caused by their own ineptitude and unrealistic aspirations.

Yes both Phil and Kev are most helpful when it comes to dating easily old episodes of Location and GD. :p I loved the Harry Hill clip of Phil taking off his quad bike helmet and shaking his hair in the breeze. :D

The personal narrative (very sad) aside, I thought it was an excellent design - far superior to the vanity-project by the two architects in the previous episode.

A really lovely house and a credit to the architect and builders involved.

I was also struck by the budget -

That was my one thing, I could imagine after a couple (or so) glasses of wine a very nasty accident attempting to get up those stairs (or perhaps that's just me :o )

Lovely house though, could have quite happily lived there myself, really nice girl and boyfriend, think Kevin was half in love with her himself :) .

You didn't miss much TBH. They did manage to restore a very old building nicely. But the main barn conversion was the same as many others you see. Nothing really that exciting. I talked through most of it which is very unusual for me. After last weeks it was a damp squib.

I did wonder how long they had been married. She must have let him treat her like that for years to make him think it was acceptable - especially on TV in front of millions. We wouldn't dream of steamrollering each other - we actually try and focus on making the other one happy and that we we are both happy with everything - he just came across as selfish and also not trusting her judgement.

She was a very impressive individual - I bet she gets even more contracts on the back of this program.

I bet a bannister of some sort appears on those stairs in the not too distant future! Especially if they have kiRAB.

Great episode - was that the first ever under budget?

Not my style either. If they're looking for a name how about Cell Block E (The E is for environmental).

Something I noticed very early was the array of south facing bedrooms and a corridor at the back. That's the wrong way around. South facing bedrooms with giant windows will soon overheat in the summer and the sun will wake you up. Far better the other way.

A skim of plaster and some paint would improve it immensely.

Also did you notice it cost

Pity . when i described it he said I've seen it on tv. So....... perhaps there is another subterranean dwelling around there in the CotswolRAB.

It was an interesting project with some attractive design and functional features. I liked the way the walls were made of giant slabs of concrete - a much faster and labour-saving way of building a house. Yet it was still an expensive build.

Still not there. 4oD seems to rely on people coming in to work and getting around to putting stuff up in their own sweet time after they've had their coffee/lunch. Occasionally with a high profile series they'll put things up within an hour or two of it being aired but more often stuff that went out on a Friday night can often wait until Monday office hours to appear on 4oD. Hopeless company - no reason why they can't upload it in advance and have an automated process to actually make it available online at a particular time after it's been broadcast.

Hopefully it will eventually appear at either
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/grand-designs/4od
or
http://www.youtube.com/show/granddesigns
when the 4oD person has overcome their hangover
