Gran Torino

i saw this and thought it was ok

best thing about it was its yet another subversive film from clint about how bad violence is

he has turned into a very liberal film maker which is cool

however...

the acting from the 2 korean kiRAB was poor at best

his family were ridiculously OTT - would they *really* behave like that at their grandmothers funeral?? not very subtle film making

and i didnt believe he would stand in his neighbours house and call them 'gooks'

not bad film though just not great

erm - the spoiler tags were added after all the complaints in case you hadn't noticed...

I went to see the film on Saturday. Unfortunately a certain poster had already given away an important part of the plot without initially putting it as a spoiler so I knew what was likely to happen. I'd rather not have known.

I enjoyed it too, but I am a big Clint Eastwood fan so may be biased.
I never found myself bored at all through this film , someone said Clint cannot pull off a tough guy anymore, but he is a pretty tough 78 year old in my opinion.

My grandfather being an ex commando could have ripped any drunken thug's head off on a Saturday night and shit down their neck. He died when he was slighly older than Clint Eastwood. Clint's character also plays a war veteran, and I have no doubt he could do the same at age 78. If I was fit as Clint at 78 I would be very, very chuffed.

Thought so! What an utter ****!

He didn't bother replying to my post because he knew he fcuked up!

Round of applause to the big man who gives away the endings of films yet to be released in the UK and spoils it for EVERYONE!

Cheers!

I agree, I thought it was a fantastic and very moving film. It made me go through loaRAB of emotions and thoughts, I laughed, felt angry, felt heartwarmed, felt sad and even shed a tear.

What a plonker, I was going to see the film as I think Estwood is fab, and now I've found out the ending due to a twerp who never bothered to put a spoiler alert on? Thanks a bunch!

Saw it on Saturday, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought the acting was fine and the story moved along very well.

One of those I shall look forward to when it comes on TV.

I watched this at the weekend and whilst I enjoyed it, I was slightly disappointed. I was prepared for the acting due to most critics and posters mentioning how bad it was. My main problem was I found Clint a little too old for all the hard man stuff and it all ended up a bit embarrassing really. The grumpy old man stuff was good and fair enough when he's going against people with a big gun, but when it comes to beating up a 20 odd year old gang member it all seems a little silly. But overall I found it pretty enjoyable 7/10

I thought the film was great.

I've heard this criticism about the poor acting from the supporting cast - but I can't say I noticed.

I think some people have just heard that point made elsewhere - and are now repeating it.
I don't think they would have mentioned any supposed 'bad acting' otherwise.

Got to see it today and i absolutely loved it!

There were laugh out loud moments and there truly were some comedy gold gems in the film. I had no idea how funny it was going to be! :D (in a good way of course!)

Overall i liked Clint, the story, the direction and i didn't think Tao and Su's acting was that terrible to be honest. That Gran Torina was a beautiful car!

If this really is Clint's last performance in front of the camera then he has has gone out on a high.

On a side note, i've never really been a Clint fan and i've hardly seen any of his major films but in the past few years i've really enjoyed his last few films - Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling and this.
