Hello everybody!!

Need some help?? I was wondering if anybody out there has used a GPS for the new TT3? If so, what are your opinion's and what units do you use (Pros and Cons)? I also want to know if there is one that can be used over seas?

With that said, has anybody used the OtterBox Armor 3600 ? How do you like it? What are your pros and cons about it? Does it seal like it says it will? I will be needing a case that will keep sand, dirt and all those things that might be blown around when in the desert!!!

Thanks for all your help!!:D

Here is a search result for TomTom references.

You can read my posts about the TomTom unit. I've used it and Mapopolis. The receiver is really not that big of a deal. They are all going to give or provide the same basic form of reception. The fundamental difference between a BT receiver and or a serial....I'd go with a serial receiver. Less power draw and probably easier to setup.

If you read through all of the post read this one first . It details some technical problems and believe it or not it's now been over a month and TomTom has not responded to the last tech question. I have reemailed them asking for an update as of last Friday and haven't heard from them.

Now that said: I've also tried Delorme and Street Atlas. TomTom's maps are the best but the program itself is way to restrictive. You can't have anything else on the SD card (at least I could never configure it and tech support hasn't yet answered that question).

I have an iQue 3600 by Garmin and use it primarily for GPS purposes now but it was a good combination or converged device. There is nothing that can touch Garmin's integrated set up and their maps although TomTom did come close but let someone else continue their beta testing.

I think if I were going to go solely T3 and GPS then I'd go with Mapopolis because of their familiarity with Palm devices.

Someone was testing and returned another unit that I didn't play with and I believe thier comments are contained in the first search thread under Magellan? But those other threads will keep you busy for awhile.

Wish I could help....just not by ballywag. I'm having problems with my home network recognizing certain computers on the network since Microsoft's been force feeding me security updates....maybe their related. Sorry Bobneal.....but your welcome anyway since the advice is always free.
:)

I noticed the mypalmlife review as well on the NavMan.

Let us know your thoughts. I look forward to seeing an unbiased opinion. ;)

I've been using the Delorme, Earthmate gps with their XMap Street Atlas USA and my t-2. I had to order a special cable on Ebay to connect the t-2, gps and plug into the cigarette lighter in my car. After all that I can power the T-2 while driving and using the program, which is nice.

One problem I have occassionally is when I turn the gps off and try to return to the home page or address book, it crashes. If you wait 30 seconds or so after turning of the gps it seems better. I'm not sure what causes this.

I used the older battery powered Earthmate with my old IIIC but didn't like replacing batteries, not enough memory and processor was too slow.
