I heard that the Nokia 6265 was unapproved by the CRTC in Canada and they didnt approve it until the GPS was included with the Nokia 6265i.

I don't see any applications that make use of this GPS transmitter....so what is it for?

the GPS that is on the phone is STRICKLY used to track your phone. Instead of triangulating your signal to get a close idea of where you are, the GPS will pin it down within feet of your spot on the globe. I have personally turned this feature to only be used during 911 calls.

how did you come across this info
and is there any websites/programs that can track my gps frequency so i can locate my phone if its lost or something

I don't have a website for you on this one, sorry. But I do have the setting for you. Under Settings>Call>Location Info Sharing>ON/EMERGENCY

If you leave it on then you can track the phone if it's lost or stolen. good idea. If you only hae it on during Emergency calls, then that is when it can be used as far as I have been told by reps at TELUS and Nokia. But someone could be lying. In any case your phone can be tracked by many ways. GPS being the easiest.
