GPS for Palm TX

I would like to make my Palm TX a GPS capable device.
Is the Plam GPS kit best for TX?

I read the maps are kinda of outdated, is it a major issue? (I live in the Bay Area) I also read there are some reseting issues, and it could take up to a couple of minutes for the device to get signal?

I also read about Seido G4850S, but it seems like it is really costly because I have to purchase the software separately, and I prefer purchase items in-store instead of online.

There r GPS sytems that are on sale for $199 nowadays, is it smarter to purchase such a separate GPS or to make my TX into a GPS capable device?

Can any users please give your comments and experience using the Palm GPS kit or other similiar devices?

My personal preference is a separate GPS unit.

For $199 there are standalone GPS units that are pretty rugged, water-resistant, accurate and fast to acquire (lock to) the GPS satellites.

And you can find converters to turn the GPS waypoint and route data into csv (thereon to Excel xls file) or Google Earth kml file.

If you intend to use the GPS for outdoor activities, then my opinion is that a dedicated GPS is the way to go.
 
I use A Holux 240 Bluetooth GPS receiver. It is excellent and only just a little larger than a USB flash drive - look on ebay.
The software and maps are available by several manufacturers. TomTom is probably the most popular. Check out their website.
