GOW people, need help with raam

any tips for beating general raam on hardcore? i didn't play the game on casual, so unfortunately i didn't get to practice on him on an easier difficulty.

i've tried to kill him probably 15 times with no luck. what i've been doing the last 8-10 tries is using the torque bow to get the bird-shield-thing off of him, and then blasting away with the alien rifle (more power and better accuracy than the human one). when the battle starts i'll duck behind the cover right in front of me with my homeboy (who proceeds to run out and get killed in about 3.4 seconds ), then by the time raam walks all the way up to the barrier i'm behind i'm out of torque bow shots, and pretty much out of rifle ammo. he usually stays in front of the barrier, but if he starts to come behind it i'll run to the other end and hide behind the barrier there.

the flying fuckers i think are the ones that usually end up killing me, but i don't want to waste too much ammo on them, so i'm not sure what to do.

any tips?
 
i'm going to try that (the first 5 or so times i tried to kill him that's what i was doing, but i didn't realize that the bird-things were a shield ), i'm just asking if 7 head shots will kill him, or if after i'm out of torque bow shots to take down his shield if i'll have to get in a few more headshots or not
 
you can either throw grenades or use the torque bow to get the bats off him or wait till he steps into the light and then shoot him. that'll save you some ammo. you can also gun him down with the chain gun, but it's very risky and you have make sure youre a good distance from him so you have some time to shoot him before the bats get to you. it's 10x easier if you had someone controlling Dom.

btw, you do know that there's torque bow ammo in the room before you fight RAAM, right?
 
i know there's a bow in the room, which i pick up because i dropped mine earlier in the level (after i spent it's ammo taking out the flying guys on the roof). when you pick it up it has 7 shots- do you mean there's more ammo for it in that room? where is it hidden?
 
and yeah i haven't even tried the mounted gun, since raam's gun kills you in about 2 seconds i figured i'd get mowed down by him right away.

i want to beat him by myself though not in co-op, so i get the achievment for it, then i plan on going through the game again all in co-op on hardcore
 
no there's only one. i just didnt think it was possible to go through all the bows. i was usually at around 6 or 7 when i'd enter that room.

just let RAAM get close enough to you then roadie run all the way to the other end. i wouldnt go for the chain gun if it's just you though.

you can play co-op and still get the achievements. thats what i did. i played through hardcore(as fenix) and insane(as dom) all on co-op.
 
on the roof section with the two mounted guns and the 10 or so flying dudes i was taking them out with the bow instead of teh guns, and then i swapped the bow for the sniper rifle

oh ok, i thought there were separate achievments for solo and co-op. i guess it's kind of a personal thing, too, in that i want to beat it by myself. i'm sure it's a lot easier on co-op since the other guy with you (hopefully) won't be a retard
