Gotta new headset for my Ps3..?

I bought a new headset for my ps3. Its a PC headset and on the box it says that you can play with the game's audio along with the other players speaking. This isn't working on the PS3.

1. Is it because that option is strictly for the PC?
2. Could i use the install CD that came with the Headset w/ the Ps3?

I tried changing the audio input where it says HDMI, Optical, and so on. I thought that an option to select the headphones for the audio wud come up when i plugged them in but it didn't happen.

no matter what headset you have you will always get the players voices through the headset and the game's audio through the speakers, it is just the way the PS3 is set up, you can't change it.
