Gothika - But is it worth seeing?

I went to see this as there was a blatant lack of anything good on at the cinema. I had read reviews, and the reviews are mainly right. It's great if you arent very demanding with films. Its doesn't really make you think in the slightest, and it is somewhat predictable (esp. the ending!) However, if all you want is a cheap scare, its fine. It IS a scary film, but most are stolen from various films. Not just the girl made my think of the Ring, but also several shots and devices used also relate back to that great movie.

I still don't understand why it is called Gothika, but then, this film is but on gaping plot hole. For example, in no circumstances would Halle Berry end up in her own mental institute and frienRAB would never be allowed to treat her.

All in all, it can be damn scary at times, though predictable. It's no classic, and in no way original. However, if there's nothing on tv I'd go and see it!

I'd give is 6/10. Silly story, great scares.
 
It was pretty good, nothing special. It obviously tried to copy the ring - i kept getting a feeling that id seen it all before.
 
Yes, naturlich. This girl was ranting and raving about how amazing it is.... I hate it when people do that who really have no clue about movies. I couldnt really tell her she was talking tripe....
 
Everyone has their own opinion, just because it wasn't the greatest film of all time by your standard, it might be that for someone else. So really your talking tripe by assumming you know best. :p
 
I didn't mean to cause offense or anything, but I just get annoyed at people who think these second rate films are the best things ever made when they dismiss films like Donnie Darko as rubbish.... they just don't have a clue.

(I don't, however, have a problem with people of differing opinion. Just those who know jack shit about film!)
