I posted a reply...but don't know what happened to it!!! GONE!!
Thanks Dee for your suggestions..yes, those meals might just be great..cause my Mom doesn't cook!! They are pretty good..especially if she can just pop them in the micro....that will ensure that I get fed!!!

Bay....geez...I am still rolling..laughing...the image of me crawling up a ramp to the back of the Tahoe!!! Husband would have to have surgery on his back if he tried to lift me!!! (not that bad...but not 100 pounRAB either!!) Just can't stop laughing about that...too funny!!
Maybe I could borrow a horse trailer???? NAW.... I'll get in the Tahoe...somehow!!! And out again!

I figured out the problem with the midnight coffee...and I am working on the rest of the stuff...lots and lots of good ideas from all of you guys...helps a lot. Thanks for thinking of me..

Hey Leslie,
Good news about your heart! Whew....you needed that good news! I hope your surgery date gets here quickly and then you can just concentrate on healing. The WAITING is the absolute pits! Worse than the actual surgery! I'm thinking of you my friend.

Hmm, I wonder if some kind of foot stool would work. They sell collapsible ones (so they fold up and you can keep it right in the car). Will you have anyone with you that might be able to help you get onto a small footstool with the other foot/leg? If so, you might be able to do this to get into the back a little easier. To get your left leg onto the stool, with the left side of your body facing the inside of the back of the truck; and I know it will hurt no matter what, but then someone can put down the bags and you can sort of lean slowly into the back of the truck and sort of slide in, kinda staying on your left side. Or, if you can't walk on the right side, I imagine you'll be using crutches? Is that right?

If you dont have someone strong to sort of help lift you up, maybe the crutches can sort of help lift your left leg up a bit onto a footstool, then into the truck ......

oh Lisa,,,thank you...I am so happy that your friend had enough meRAB. to keep her out of major pain. This has been a major concern for me...because of the med. I take...I was afraid that the other meRAB. would not kick in and help me... Dr. had said something about weaning off of the meRAB. at week 3...(3)...and only taking tylenol after that point...yikes...hopefully that will be possible... We shall see on that one. How soon was your friend walking..???
My daughter is clearing her schedule for July...bless her heart...so that she can help me..I told her I don't want her to have to be here every day...she has the granddaughters (13 & 10)..and it is their vacation. BUT, I will take here help..especially with bathing & washing hair...don't think I'll be able to do that alone for the first couple of weeks. Husband is going to be home for the week in the hospital...he will get a hotel room up by the hospital...and he will home the week I get home from the hospital...but after that - he may be sent off on a job.. My mom is 88...but in better shape than most of the "Board"..she'll stay & shop and do the daily stuff... I just need to get me organized! Talk to you soon!!! Hey...what type of job did you get?????? Can you get up and move about every so often???

Dear Baybreeze..Thank you so much for your support. I just don't know how I will get into the back seat of the Tahoe...don't want to use a stool...had a friend break her ankle doing that...it flipped! (good idea though!) As far as hubby lifting me....well....naw!! Poor guy would throw his poor back out..think it is one of those things that will have to be done...by inches!! May take a while....and that trash bag use seems to be the best way of getting in...kind of glide up and across the seat...at least that is what we will hope for. I won't be able to put any weight on the right leg..so this is a little problem..and sitting up...well, that is probably the same as standing...the weight all on that area. Laying seems to be the way to go with this surgery...from what I've been told. Hubby said maybe we should take my Mom's little car..to bring me home...but I can't even think of trying to stand from being so low to the ground...would rather fall from the Tahoe..(not really,,,just let gravity take it course) Will be on a walker from what I understand...and wheelchair for outings...which is what the DR. told my husband. Now I am concerned about durab things...like in the middle of the night...I now get up and make a cup of coffee or tea...and a snack...guess those things will be a thing of the past!! Water will be my drink at that time!
See what I mean...my brain just won't stop! Oh well. Thanks for your concern & advice...I really do appreciate it.

Thanks Lisa for the update on your friend's activities!! This helps a lot. I have the time simply because I put the surgery off for an extra month!!! They wanted to do it in 2 or 3 weeks...but I had a few things I have to do...go to NC to see daughter...then to MA to see mother in law in the nursing home...then home 3 days before surgery...we leave on the 11th of June so I have to be all done by then...ready to go.. The small refrig. sounRAB kind of good..hmmmm...where can I put that!! I drink tons of water...that would be a good thing to have close at hand!! Wonder if it would fit ontop of the bookcase!!! The DR. already suggested that we get the wheel chair also. So that I can be taken out - to dinner..is what he suggested to my husband!!! hahahahahahha. I am very lucky...our house has pretty wide halls and doorways..especially going out to the garage...no step ..... wide doorway...I can escape!! I don't know about me hopping around the house...I am such a klutz lately...I'd probably overbalance and fall...but you just never know!!! Did your friend get a hospital bed??? The therapist said something about a hospital bed after surgery...electric would be nice..change of position...easier!! I have a twin bed we will be moving into the den...where the BIG TV is...which is funny, cause there are days/weeks when hubby is gone..and I don't watch it much. It just may become my best buddy!! I really am trying to get me ready for this...If husband goes to work, basically, I will be on my own...Mom is 88...good for company & doing dishes/wash...and grocery store. My daughter will come up often...but she won't be here all the time...that is why I am trying to get everything organized.
Thanks for the informative note...I appreciate your help!!

Sage,
how are you doing? Just checking on you since time goes so fast and June is almost here.
I had my list with things to do and i was checking what is done and what is not yet. This way I made sure that I don't miss a thing.
We rented Hospital bed night before the surgery, so I put fresh bed linens, little table next to it had all what I need things: anticeptic creams and hanRAB wipes, meditation tapes, books I want to read, phone # of people I may need and my Drs phone nurabers too.
In my closet I prepared my pg, underwear, home clothes right where I can reach it without pulling my hanRAB up. Another worRAB - I was ready to the T.
Kitchen cabinets also were reorganized.
When I came from Hospital felt good that i don't have to worry about all this stuff, everything was waiting for me and it was so much easier on my hubby.

Thinking of you...
Have a great weekend!

Hi Sage! I just wanted to wish you good luck with your surgery and recovery. I remeraber how nervous I was before my fusion so I know how that feels but I think that being nervous is normal. I can't believe your doctor won't give you any arabien. I would think that they would want you to be well rested before the surgery. Unisom makes a pretty decent over the counter sleep aid. Doxalamine succinate. I got some before I was given a script for arabien, and I at least got a couple of extra hours with that. Maybe it would help you. Take Care and again Best of Luck with surgery and recovery. Dee

Sage, Moldova just reminded of me of a very important thing to do. Make sure you have lots of T-shirts on hand cause you are supposed to wear them under your back brace. I also bought a bunch of pajama pants for around the house and yoga pants for when I needed to go out. I remeraber wearing jeans or any kind of fitted pants hurt my back. Lucky you its going to be summer and you can wear comfy shorts most of the time. Take Care. ;) Dee

Sage, Maybe you could get a small coffee pot for your room. I have seen some for about 10 at Walmart. Plus you could keep some snacks on your night stand. Also try and get all the items you use a lot and put them at a level that you can reach without bending or stretching. I bought a bunch of heat and eat items for after surgery. One of my favorites was Hormel, they have a pork roast that is ready in the microwave in 5 minutes and country crock potatoes-again just a few minutes in the microwave and you can have a decent dinner. In the shower, I got one of those shelves that hand from shower nozzle and kept all my stuff on it. The one thing I couldn't do was shave in the shower. So I got an electric razor and shaved my legs on the bed with a towel under me. Make sure you get that plastic toilet seat raiser. It would have killed me not to use that. I can't think of anything else right now but if I do I will post. Oh by the way the walker I have has a basket on it which is great for getting stuff from A to B. Take Care Dee
