Got any tips on some angles to use when photographing people (specifically bands)?

I'm an amature band photographer, and i realize that sometimes my promos can look a little boring, because there isn't a whole lot you can do to the subject of the photo. So i try to switch it up by trying different angles. But most of the girls in the bands that I shoot complain that the angles of the pictures are "unflattering."
Do you have any tips for when experimenting with angles?
