Got a N73 ME on Friday,.. couple questions.

Hi all,

I got a N73 Music Edition over the weekend and overall I love the phone, but I have a couple problems maybe someone can help me with. Just to give you some background I am coming from a 6682 and I am using an old ATTWS sim (on Cingular?s network of course)

First I am trying to download Google Maps and the Gmail app. When I got to the link to download the app it seems to work smoothly, the installer prompts come up and it even asks if I want to save it on the phone or MC card. Once I select either one, it prompts a message saying "disconnected" and quits the installer. Any ideas why this would happen? I am able to surf the internet just fine and I've installed other programs via PC suite. I believe it maybe Google itself or the phone. I would need another app that I can download via the internet to try and see if i get the same response or not.

Second, I have been trying to send an MMS message and I'm getting an "operation time-out" message. The access point is the same as on my 6682 "AWS MMS" which worked fine. For some reason i can not send any on the N73.

Lastly,
I am looking for some software that manages my profiles. I used smart profiles on my 6682 and I need something that switches profiles based on time of day and such.

Thanks in advance.

I can help with a couple things.

I don't think I've ever seen that error message, so I really don't know what to tell you. It may be your settings, which is my next point.

Your N73 should have preloaded access points off of the SIM card automatically when you popped it into your phone. Those settings may be incorrect. There's a couple settings configurators floating around out there. Use either Nokia's or your provider's to reset the settings and the new ones should work properly. If not, you may need to upgrade your SIM card.

The calendar application Papyrus is the only solution I know of as of now that gives you a workaround for some form of smart profiles. You can set a profile to a calendar event so the phone will switch to that profile for the duration of that event.

I hope that helps!

for the gmail app i got the same thing but after 10 or more tries it worked fine.. so keep trying i think the problem is with their website

Thanks JonnyBruha, I tried downloading the setting off the nokia site shortly and well as look for Papyrus. I actually used Papyrus on my 6682 and it was a very nice app.

PapaDocta,.. i will keep trying hopefully it will work soon,.. i need my google maps.
