Got a Honda Integra type-r 99 model clutch problem or gearbox?

friend tried puttin it from 2nd to 3rd but put it in 1st by mistake now if the gearbox was the problem wouldn't you hear a crunchin noise or some sort of noise that would indicate its blown that's why im thinking it's the clutch started smelling somethin like burning after 10 or so seconds then when I turned the car off ended up not wanting to go in any gear? what would be the most likely problem and how much would it be to get fixed
