well if its acting normal i don't know wat to tell you and did you get it at a good pet shop where they took care of it good and also when you feed see if it eats................like wen it goes to the top to eat.

it? ok so i got this fish yesterday with a regular fantail also finallyly got the new tank yay)
but now i noticed on my peril scaled one that it has a red gill (noticed it last night) but im not sure if it was like that when we first bought it.

could it be sick?
or irritated?
or is it just normal on some fish?

please please answer, im really worried for my new fish.

its only red on one sie and the fish seems to be acting normal.
yeah my fish eats, i know because when i put some food pellets into the tank it bega trying to eat one... but then it got stuck in its mouth and it had a hard time spitting it out.... so im waiting until they are bigger for the pellets in the mean time they are stuck on flakes

What sized tank?
Is it filtered?
Did you cycle it prior to adding fish?
How many fish in the tank?
What is the fish's behaviour (laying on the gravel, gulping for air at the surface, darting around the tank, floating upside down etc)?

From reading your question, I would first suspect bad water quality from high levels of Ammonia. That is most plausible considering your fish seems to have inflamed gills in which Ammonia attacks.

Please answer the questions to help us help you.
