As I said, on the brink. The article addresses this. The GOP leadership is establishment, the actual voters (and, more than a few merabers) are not. The democrats were the anti-establishment party for a while, and then they became the establishment party. The GOP has been functioning as a sort of outer party, but the actual voters revolted against this, taking the form of the TEA party. It remains to be seen whether establishment interests will control the angry mass of tea party folks or not.
