Why do they complain about it when they have been bashing Hillary Clinton for years based on her appearance, her voice, her husband etc? Both these women have been treated unfairly, Clinton more so than Palin.. why do Republicans fail to recognize this fact?
Vinny - I don't recall anyone attacking her child, but I do agree with you that those are low blows.. My point is it's fine to attack these women for their political postions but not for their personal lives

Going after a political opponent is one thing, going after a Downs Syndrome child is another. The Dems lost ALOT of credibility over this one, and they know it.

EDIT to Madart: What attack has Hillary taken 'far better' than that of Palin taking repeated attacks on her special care child? Sheesh did you even just type that???

leaving sexism out of it..
politicians know to expect criticism, and even mistreatment from the public. More important.. most politicians know to not stoop to arguments about criticism, or (worse).. using the low percentage of "smears" as an excuse to ignore the validity of ANY opposition.
She is not qualified. She exaggerates her own skills. Those are valid points.

Palin doesn't have what it takes to be a national candidate. She isn't half the woman Clinton is. Hilary has handled far worse attacks with much more grace and intelligence and has never quit.

It is sad that Palin is the best they can do: A semi-literate spoiled ex-beauty queen.

"Fair or unfair—and I do think that it's a more concentrated criticism that Hillary gets on so many fronts; I think that's unfortunate. But fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. You have to plow through that and know what you're getting into. I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo. But when I hear a statement like that coming from a women candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn't do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don't think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or not fair it is there. I think it's reality and it's a given, people just accept that she's going to be under a sharper microscope. So be it. Work harder, prove to yourself to an even greater degree that you're capable, that you're going to be the best candidate. That's what she wants us to believe at this point. So it bothers me a little bit to hear her bring that attention to herself on that level."

Hillary wasn't bashed for years, Chelsea was. All public officials kids are. It comes with the territory when you run for PUBLIC office.

I want proof they bashed hillary for YEARS...other than fox. Palin has "journalist" who lie on her daily. I don't trust cnn, msnbc, abc, cbs, nbc anymore...not that I ever did.
