google android platform ..any idea about drivers ?

I would like to buy a google android computer this semester. The problem is that they come with just built in Wi Fi. What If I am traveling country and need to use a 56K Modem or I need to use a Wired Ethernet .
Is there ANYWAY I can use a USB 56K Modem or USB Wired LAN ( Etherned ) on an ipad or google android computer ?
 
As far as I know there is no true Google Android computer. Currently there are only Android phones and some knockoff slate computers that aren't worth the money.

As far as the Ipad, It has only the proprietary connector for external devices. I would expect that there wont be any adapters to connect a modem or network cable.

One solution is to get a wireless router. If you wanted to use a modem you may need a second computer (or there may be a stand-alone device) that connects to the wireless router over a network cable.
