Google android app download - wifi?

I recently bought an HTC desire and have a 500MB capped T mobile internet service, and broadband wifi at home. I'm concerned downloading apps at home, when I'm connected to the wifi, had been happening over my mobile interent, rather than the wifi - thus using up my mobile internet allowance. is that likely? Can I force it to only download apps on available wifi?
 
If WiFi's on, download will occur over WiFi.

If you're so worried, put the "Power Control" widget on your screen and turn off data/3G.
