Did anyone else watch this film on BBC2 last night and what did you think of it? I enjoyed it up to a point although for some reason I kept wanting to shout at the son "Tell her the truth for ****s sake, it won't kill her!"
I did like the ending when she was more than aware of what was going on and realising how much work her son had put in to keeping the truth from her she looked at him and simply said "Wow" with him not knowing that she knew.
 
Yeah, watched it a few years ago, and have watched it twice since. It is a very funny film, with sad undertones.
 
Bugger, was it on recently? I've been trying to catch it on TV for ages, I was meant to see it in my German class but I was ill when it was shown!

I have a massive crush on Daniel Bruhl :D
 
I have this film on dvd and love it.

It makes me cry, but it's also funny and touching.

That we find out that both mother and son lie to each other throughout to protect the other's feelings is very bittersweet.
 
Brill movie. It's got a perfect blend of quirky humour and thoughtful drama.. The soundtrack definitely deserves a mention too- adore Yann Tiersen.
