Good unlockable GSM phone

Hello everyone,

I want to switch from my Verizon plan when my contract is up in a year or so (I think), to a GSM carrier (Cingular or T-Mobile). Like the title says, what are some good tri-/quad-band phones that are easy to unlock (i.e. some special unlocking code) so I can later on use it abroad during some study abroad sessions in college? Money is kind of an issue - eBay, anyone???

Hey,

What about Sony Ericsson Z520a or a Motorola V557 (which has almost the same features as the SLVR and RAZR)? Are these good phones, and how easy are they to unlock?
