Good songs for a violin solo?

Any of you guys know any good songs for a violin solo that isnt too hard to learn? I've been playing for 6 years. Preferably nothing too slow, and nothing too fast. Thanks (:

Also, what do you think of the violin? A beautiful instrument or an earpiercing piece of crap?
