good software for file management?

I am looking for software that would help me move files from my handheld memory to my card, etc, and wonder if anyone knows a name of something that could do that for me?

Thanks in advance

For freeware Filez is EXCELLENT - far superior to SuperUtility6 or several other apps I've looked at. It also has the ability to show you Saved Preferences and export their list to Memo Pad.

HOWEVER -- I think the BEST is TealMover ($12) from
www.tealpoint.com

Tealmover does a couple of things Filez doesn't (and vice versa).
For instance, Tealmover will allow you to boost the amount of dynamic handheld memory an application seeks when opening - the default is around 3300k.

If you boost this to say 5000 or 6000, and are using desktop accessories or something running in the background (automated backup, for instance) -- the app that's been "boosted" has less tendency to CRASH. This is important for certain apps.

I boosed Agendus to 6600. Kinoma runs DEFAULT at around 16000. I believe AcidImage is high too, but I set it higher. You don't want to do it with a bunch of apps, just the "hungry" ones. Mobile DB4 is another good candidate. Once you CHANGE the value, it becomes permanent. In other words, if you deleted the app and reinstalled it form your desktop, it would SAVE the changed, improved value. Very cool.

Tealmover also allows you to copy or move MULTIPLE files at once and will accept "raw data" to be stored on your card OR the handheld.

Filez, on the other hand, has that cool ability to show Saved and Unsaved Preferences, and by exporting a "snapshot" list to memo pad, you get ot know what should be on there and what shouldn't. If you see a strange Saved pref "remnant" from a deleted app later on, it will help you decide whether or not to wipe it out - that's what people mean by "junk files." Certain programs like Uninstall Manager "tend" to do this for you, but often miss -- or worse, delete something they shouldn't as an "orphan." By learning your Saved Prefs listings over time, YOU can decide.

I'm also (once again) posting here TomCatalog, a freeware utility not really available any more but one that is SUPER for doing searches for any Creator ID and deleting all related to that ID - it is quite powerful so be careful.

So, recommendation: take Filez free, Tom Catalog free (here), and then shell out $12 for TealMover. That's 3 apps for $12 - and you'll have ALL the bases covered.

Mention "paulteal" to Tealpoint when you order - I have asked Tealpoint to place people from this forum who reference "paulteal" on an "email 'em back with support" a little ahead of the rest of the populous. That identifies you as a PDA Street Hero!!

Welcome to the group, by the way.:D

Just a full stop after the URL. I'll sort it for Moose Man (hope that's okay MM).

Awesome! Good going PTL. Any chance of "PDA Street" Special Discount on mention of your name?! Say 10% or 50% :D

Has anyone ever seen the file manager that comes built into the Kyocera Palm/Phone? It is great, but not available on the general market, as far as I can tell.
