Good Show, Bad Episode

Until the DTV movies came along, many considered That's Lobstertainment! to be the only bad episode of Futurama. Mostly because it focused too much on Zoidberg, there wasn't any real action, and wasn't as funny. In the commentary, one writer admits that while writing this, "Somewhere in the middle, I lost Fry and Leela," then tacked on that substory about them being trapped in the La Brea tar pit.

Code Geass- "Love Attack"

Some may disagree, but I didn't think their attempt at humor was very good. I will admit that it had its moments though. But at the end of the episode, it wasn't that good.

Such disdain I have for this episode! I'm not sure if I should thank you or hate you for reminding me of it! :p

As for my own choice; Batman TAS episode Critters. The villain for this week's episode, a farmer that splices animals...yeah! I'm supposed to take him seriously given all the villains in Batman's Rogues Gallery. When this episode first premiered, I remember sleeping thru parts of it, & I NEVER found myself bored watching this show.

Maybe I'll think of more later.

Agreed on that one, and with Dub C who mentioned "Critters." Another ep I didn't care for at all was "The Underdwellers." I thought "Sewer King" was quite possibly the worst villain in the entire Rogues Gallery, and the entire episode just seemed a little too ridiculous for my tastes. Later, I learned that Bruce Timm said that BS&P had caused some drastic edits and changes for the tone and content of the ep. Timm was even quoted as saying, "If we were doing it today, we probably would have decided not to do the show."

It did have a poignant moment in it though, when Batman said "Children and guns do not mix... ever!"

If you listen to the crew commentary on the JLU S1 DVD, the entire episode was intended as a farce and an homage to the "Bewitched" TV series. And they even acknowledge that they knew some fans wouldn't "get it".

I did. I thought it was very amusing and so refreshingly different from the rest of that season. I find it fascinating when established shows take risks and do something out of the ordinary. Timm even admits on the commentary that he'd been watching a lot of Buffy and Angel at the time, and "This Little Piggy" was inspired by more whimsical eps from those shows.

I loved that episode. I'm not exactly "into" opera either, but I found the singing hilarious. Parts of the lyrics were a little forced, but overall I thought it was very entertaining.
