Good reason not to switch to boost?

Actually, even if you are in a large metro area Sprint coverage can suck. I had Virgin Mobile for years and the coverage was super spotty in Chicago. I actually had Sprint for a few months and it was the same. I would not recommend Sprint to anyone in Chicago. Not to mention, they are pretty much the last carrier to get coverage in the subway.

And there's an MVNO called PlatinumTel that uses Sprint's network. They made some commercial making fun of Cricket by saying "Squash that bug" and showing some woman putting her phone up really high to get a signal. Which is really inaccurate because I have the best coverage I have ever had with Cricket and I rarely go below full bars.

Boost has a bunch of aRAB on our transit system that say "another dropped call? drop cricket?" Again, I've almost never had a dropped call with Cricket and if I do it's most likely the other person. They also have an ad that says "Boost has 3x more coverage than Cricket," well we all know that isn't true anymore.
 
Exactly. How are you suppose to sell a BlackBerry to a business person and tell them that they can use it to talk and text in most of the country, but they cannot use it for e-mail and web in a lot of area? Why would person who does a lot of picture messaging want a service where they may or may not be able to use the feature if they go on a trip? I'm glad Cricket address the issue of having limited coverage to talk in, but many customers who pay for data features want it to work all the time. Hopefully that issue will be addressed soon.
 
It's not SE unlimited, it's ED 1500. If you do less than 1500 of landline anytime minutes, it's practically the same as unlimited because of AM AT (anymobile anytime).
 
boost's network isn't great, even the cdma version... and no roaming isn't necessarily a good thing! i mean sprints original network sucks.... and if you don't have roaming, then when your not on the network, you have no coverage at all... cricket at least has roaming, and the good thing, is that they don't let you blow money on roaming unless you want to!

i went to boost, hated it, was also on the iden network... i also went to straight talk. one reason i hated both of these companies was the gray area... i was always questioning things, and if i asked, they never really give you answers.... i like cricket cause you know whats going on!

my opinion, cricket is better, because even though they are 3 dollars cheaper, they are more reliable, the sprint network isn't in my experience. i'm in nashville, and the coverage map quotes a pretty good coverage, but don't be fooled.
 
but now that cricket runs on sprints network as well, and metro pcs's network, the only thing that makes cricket a slightly less quality carrier is the fact that you can't use internet on sprints network (yet) which is kinda dum, but it doesn't bother me cause I never use it anyways lol
 
exactly. i have no problems with cricket EXCEPT the no internet while roaming. And since I use garmin GPS on my blackberry, I must have internet connection.

Not to mention cricket STILL hasn't released their blackberry.
 
From what my customers tell me, Boost CDMA is way better than the iDEN. From my expirence with the 8330, text messages go through instantly and I have coverage in some areas where I didn't have it with Cricket. Like everything, it will depend on where you're at as people with Cricket and Boost claim to have areas where things are great and things are bad. For me, Boost has been way better. But that is in large part due to the high nuraber of system problems Cricket had in my area.


My guess as to why Boost doesn't talk much about roaming is because there is really no one they can set up a roaming agreement with for their iDEN network. It could also be because as mentioned before, data features don't work everywhere when Cricket customers roam and they want people to feel that as long as they have coverage with Boost, all of their features will work. For that reason, I don't really see Sprint ever allowing Cricket customers to have data while roaming on their network. Doesn't make much sense to allow your competition to have all of their features work on both their network and your network.
 
I ended up going to boost and now have a blackberry curve. What inspired me was that I would get 0 to 1 bars of signal at my desk which is where I spend most of my time. I now get 3 to 5. Cricket was great everywhere else but more than 90% of the time people would tell me their calls would go straight to voicemail when I was at work.

I like boost but ultimately, i'd like to be on an android phone. I'll probably stay where I am until my curve becomes extremely obsolete (its not the newest phone but it is more than capable and im loving 3g speeRAB faster than the capped 150kbps id get) and reconsider going back to cricket. It could have just been my phone.

Im currently paying $54 with discounts on reboost carRAB. Cricket would need to be able to offer me $50-$60 including all taxes before id reconsider coming back as well AND full internet access..not capped and behind a proxy.
 
If you do go to Boost, keep this in mind, you won't be able to transfer your phone nuraber from Boost to Sprint if you decided to go to Sprint.

My friend tried it and they won't let him so he went to T-mobile.
 
Before moving over, go in to your local corporate store and check that your on the current plans. Depending on your area, you'll save money. Other than that, talk to someone with boost in your area and see how they like there service, what they actually pay a month.
 
Honestly, I have done the research and Boost is cheaper... But you have to think. This is their third time flip flopping networks. What is going to happen this time when Sprint gets mad that Boost phones are backing up their networks??? Another factor with Boost is that there aren't corporate stores (atleast not in my area) and everything must be done through a dealer or call center. Don't expect to ever get a credit on your acccount or to be able to do a Bridge Pay. Also, all warranty claims must be handled by the phone's manufacturer. Plus there is no option for insurance. Yes, Cricket is a little bit higher, but if you have roaming enabled, then you have a true "nationwide" network. Plus, if you can hold out for a little longer, you will see that Cricket is going to change a few things of their own...

If you have been a loyal Cricket customer and want to jump on the bandwagon because it's $10 cheaper a month then go ahead. But I will almost bet you will be back.
 
i agree that crickets roaming isn't a great thing. but boost's network isn't nationwide. what happens when you go out of the orange area, no service, at all. with cricket, if you go out of the green area, at least you can still make calls, which is all i would need to do anyways if i'm out of my coverage area...

but neither cricket, or boost have NATIONWIDE... only verizon has that... cricket and boost are almost the same thing when it comes to coverage.... but cricket gives you the opportunity to use your phone off of your market. its that security that i want.
 
Never mind...I figured it out. But the problem with your argument is you are using the plan that has 1500 minutes and comparing it to Boost which has unlimited minutes. For me, it's a wash. I have a family of 3. 3 lines of unlimited on Boost, $150...3 lines with 1500 minutes on Sprint, $150. My 23% discount would bring it down. I think PP is the best deal. If they would just get their crap together.
 
i dont mean i have no roaming i meant i dont get charged extra...with my cricket one i couldnt roam at all n if u spend extra u get a few minutes of roaming unless u get the like 65 dollar plan to have more roaming either way ur over spending for ****** service i cant even leave atlantic county here in nj and get service i have none anywheres with cricket thats why i got rid of that **** whats the use of a phone u cant use
 
50% of coverage, drop calls, and issues are devices and not the network.

I use Sprint/Boost all over the country and its very very good. If it weren't do you think Cricket would partner with Sprint for roaming?
 
i don't need my phone for internet or anything like that, i have a computer for that lol

one thing i think thats pointless on cricket is navigator... you cant use it when your out of your coverage area, but you don't use it in your coverage area because you know where everything is lol it's durab lol
 
From my stand point,
BOOST SUCKS in utah, pretty much any here all together.

Cons of boost.
Taxes have to be paid here. NO B/S as a dealer we are told they are enforced to pay taxes in utah.

Coverage is ******, There so called nationwide plan does not COVER any thing on the west coast really its almost identical to crickets non nationwide plan here.

Phone selection ****** again. Most sprint phones are, i have yet to get a sprint phone i admire personally. To slow and rubbish yet verzion is the same sometimes as well..
