...additional details)? My friend had written these points in response to someone else and I thought they were really good, something i've never thought of before.
Here it is -->
In the case of God though, he gives us freewill our whole lives, then our consequence is damnation if we dont turn to him. Its not like if we mess up once "oh ok now your going to Hell". He gives us our whole lives to make the choice and trys to guide us along the way. God shouldnt be "ideal" to human standards, hes God, and whether you believe in Him or not a being of that level is probably on a whole diffrent plain of thinking than our mortal minds, so to attempt to fully reason everything out is futile in my opinion.
As far as in the case of someone doing right...Im sure there are alot of criminal masterminds, murders and the like that have thought they were doing "right". Im pretty sure Hitler thought he was doing some right in killing millions of Jews, but I think its safe to say it was not right in any sense of the word
And then theres a whole diffrent problem with that line of thinking as well...if someone gets to go to heaven based on "doing right" or "thinking that their doing right" how on earth is anyone supposed to know if they meet the bar by the time they die? Should we tally up every good thing and every bad thing weve done and whatever outweighs which determines where we go?
Then that line of thinking brings yet another problem...What is right, and what is bad? Is it simply defined by the majority of society, by a book, by what?
As I've said before, we live in an age where truth is considered "relative" by the majority and that no absolute exist. While Im a firm believer in doing what you want and having your own opinions, that fact is, there has to be absolute truths....truth can not always be releative...their has to be somthing at the end of the day that will not change.
And personally, based on my experience, the evidence ive seen and read and felt, I believe that truth is found within God, and his son Jesus. You are obviously free to have your own interpretations of absolute truth or whether or not it exists.
